CAS Experience- Cooking

My CAS Experience was about figuring out how to cook, cooking is a significant skill for survival. I know the essentials of cooking like cutting, chopping, frying and so forth from my AS classes. Yet, I couldn’t invest my time as a result of school and other extracurricular activities.

Learning Outcomes

Learning Outcome 1 – Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth

I have always loved eating, and cooking was something that will help me embrace it. During the pandemic, I understand that cooking all alone is a significant ability when I don’t have anybody to make food for me. All through the process, I acquired a lot of new abilities and identified that I am acceptable at following guidelines and cleaning after the process. There were also things which I’m bad at such as I was impatient for cooking dishes that took a ton of time or which made the dishes not wonderful enough.

Learning Outcome 2- Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process.

The experience was itself a test, I challenged myself to figure out how to cook 10-15 dishes throughout the course of 14 days. I was pleased to reveal to you that I was able to effectively make 10 distinct dishes throughout the span of 12 days. Despite the fact that I had been successful to effectively finish it, that didn’t imply that it was a tough road. There were numerous challenges that I faced, for example, for one I was bad at multitasking, and I was having issues with controlling high temperatures. To overcome this I started managing more efficiently by completing the step and then moving on to the next and with respect to the high temperature I use safety measures so I don’t get burned. By undertaking the difficulties and challenges that were thrown at me makes me a better cook.

Learning Outcome 3-Demonstrate how to initiate and plan a CAS experience

I Used to plan on what dish I was going to make in the span of 10 days. The plan included the recipe for the dish, the ingredients, the apparatus and the utensil that I required for the dish. I am not an organized person but the plan helped me to be prepared so that while I am cooking I don’t forget something that is crucial in the process of making the dish. The plan also helped me to prepare beforehand for recipes like Noodles, you have to boil the noodles beforehand. During the planning process I developed Time management skills as there are things in cooking that need to be done before the process.

Learning Outcome 4 – Show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experiences

Commitment And Perseverance Is a Significant part of the experience. If you know me you would realize that I am the laziest person that you would have met, so it was difficult for me to be committed to cooking. The only thing all through the experience that motivated me to cook was the fun and the joy to eat after all the hard work. Committing to something brings the joy of accomplishing something, and its absence feels like a 9-5 job that one needs to accomplish for the money, not the pleasure.

Learning Outcome 7-Recognize and consider the ethics of choices and actions

As I was not an expert in cooking there were a ton of ingredients that were wasted for instance while making the batter you need to accomplish a specific consistency but if you can’t achieve that consistency everything is gone in drains. The other decision was if to cook healthy or not, in which I failed. Despite the fact that I made certain dishes that were health-conscious yet the greater part of them was for simply gaining me weight.
