This is not the same as a heart attack. Such incidents take place when there is an electrical malfunction in our heart causing irregular heartbeats, or commonly known as Arrhythmia. When the pumping pattern of the blood is disturbed\u2019 then the heart can\u2019t pump blood to the brain, lungs, and the other body parts. Hence the <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">person loses consciousness and has no pulse. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">This may also be caused as an outcome of a heart attack or <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">myocardial infarction. If the victim does not receive immediate treatment, then death occurs within minutes.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/cpr.heart.org\/idc\/groups\/ahaecc-public\/@wcm\/@ecc\/documents\/image\/~extract\/UCM_493942~1~staticrendition\/ginormous.jpg\" width=\"940\" height=\"1216\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">A Cardiac arrest does not affect society as\u00a0a whole, but it does have a major impact on individuals. According to the doctors, only one in five people can survive a cardiac arrest. The chances of surviving a sudden cardiac arrest decrease every minute by 7-10%. The doctors also stated that a cardiac arrest is as good as heart failure. Any victim of a cardiac arrest must be provided treatment immediately or else they will suffer death.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Since cardiac arrests strike without any warning, there are several ways to identify if a person is struck by one. They are:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Fatigue or weakness<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Shortness of breath<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Fainting<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Dizziness or lightheadedness<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Heart palpitations<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Chest pain<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Sudden loss of responsiveness<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">If any of these symptoms are evident then you must immediately call for help. Until any source of help comes, you must check the heartbeats and give constant CPR.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/www.melrosewakefield.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/sudden-cardiac-arrest-e1539196189234.png\" width=\"400\" height=\"229\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">A sudden cardiac arrest directly blocks and affects the cardiovascular system of the victim. Also since the oxygen-rich blood is not being transported to the brain, and there is a deficiency of oxygen in our brain, our nervous system is affected as well. This is also because our nervous system and cardiovascular system is directly connected.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">In order to treat the victim suffering from a sudden cardiac arrest, the doctor may use various scientific advances to save the person. The various scientific advances used are:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Drugs<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Coronary angioplasty<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Coronary bypass surgery.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Radiofrequency catheter ablation<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Corrective heart surgery<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">However, the most common method used is using ICD(implantable cardioverter-defibrillator).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/www.mayoclinic.org\/-\/media\/kcms\/gbs\/patient-consumer\/images\/2013\/08\/26\/10\/46\/my00336_im03596_hb7_icdimplantedthu_jpg.jpg\" width=\"632\" height=\"480\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/www.health.harvard.edu\/media\/content\/images\/cr\/205480.jpg\" width=\"432\" height=\"336\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Even though using ICD is proven to be effective there are various issues and effects that come along with using defibrillators.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The ethical issues are that the patient who is using the defillibrators aren&#8217;t warned about the side effects of using them and the consequence that come along with them.<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The economic issues are that these defilibrators are very costly and aren&#8217;t affordable by all as it costs about 2000 pounds.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">T<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">o sum up, a Sudden Cardiac Arrest(SCA) is a life-threatening situation and if not treated immediately then the victim can suffer death.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Cardiac arrest is when the heart suddenly stops pumping blood in your body.
