{"id":5702,"date":"2021-06-21T09:48:08","date_gmt":"2021-06-21T09:48:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/classof2022.fountainheadschools.org\/?p=5702"},"modified":"2021-06-21T09:48:27","modified_gmt":"2021-06-21T09:48:27","slug":"learner-portfolio-aoe2-tok-reflection","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/classof2022.fountainheadschools.org\/?p=5702","title":{"rendered":"Learner Portfolio &#8211; AOE2 &amp; TOK Reflection"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Does having a different worldview from that of an author create an obstacle in understanding their text?<\/strong><br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Having a different worldview from the author when analysing their texts can lead to a much greater and deeper understanding of their text, as not being confined to the author\u2019s worldview allows the reader to perceive and scrutinise the themes and ideas of the text through multiple perspectives and lenses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For example, analysing The Reluctant Fundamentalist by Mohsin Hamid through the perspective of the protagonist (Changez) leads to vastly different interpretations about Changez\u2019s struggle against Islamophobia and racism as compared to analysing the book through the perspective of an American.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, one consequence of not sharing the author\u2019s worldview (and the assumptions that come with it) is that since most texts are written with a fixed target audience in mind, the reader may not be able to fully comprehend the depth of the author\u2019s point of view.
