They are normally grown and divided in an orderly way, as your body needs them. But people with leukemia, the bone marrow produces abnormal white blood cells, which don’t function properly.

In this disease, Acute myeloid leukemia (AML) decreases the production of normal blood cells. And in chemotherapy, both types of cells are destroyed AML and normal blood cells. Because of Leukemia, there is a severe deficiency in Red cells, Platelets, white cells which are neutrophils and monocytes.

It can also impact society as people will like the appearance of the person so they will isolate the person who has the disease (leukemia).

There are many techniques to diagnose the disease(leukemia) :

Health history and physical exam

Complete blood count (CBC)

Blood chemistry tests

Bleeding and clotting factors

Cytochemistry

Immunophenotyping

Cytogenetic and molecular studies

Bone marrow aspiration and biopsy

Lumbar puncture

Lymph node biopsy

Leukemia starts which the inner part of bones(bone marrow), then gradually it spreads to the different parts of the body such as the lymph nodes, spleen, liver, central nervous system, and other organs. Bone marrow is severely damaged and all types of blood cells are produced in bone marrow such as RBC, WBC, and platelets. It can impact very bid if the CNS (central nervous system) is affected as the whole body is controlled by CNS.

There are 2 types of transplant for the disease leukemia:

Autologous transplant, stem cells are to be collected from their blood or bone marrow from the patient.

Allogeneic transplant, stem cells are to be collected from someone else (donor).

It has also led to the practice of organ sale by entrepreneurs for financial gains in some parts the world through the exploitation of the poor, for the benefit of the wealthy. There are many risks and benefits of organ donation from living donors, the appropriate and acceptable methods to increase organ donation from the deceased through the adoption of the principle of the ‘presumed consent’, the right methods of providing acceptable appreciation and compensation for the family of the deceased as well as volunteer and altruistic donors, and the duties and responsibilities of the medical profession and society to help the humans. In the transplant, there are chances of rejection of the organ as the immune system doesn’t like foreign products in the body. The culture, religious and traditional concepts believe that it may hamper acceptability and cause a lack of willingness to donate the organ.

So, the above information is sufficient to know about challenges that you might face during having Leukemia disease and you should take it seriously as it may also lead to death.

Leukemia is a type of cancer in which the body’s blood-forming tissues, including the bone marrow and the lymphatic system.
