Feeding the poor
During the times of Covid, businesses were shut, people lost their jobs, and many didn’t have enough to eat. So as my CAS experience I chose to make food and feed people. For this experience I made food for 10 people for 5 days. This experience was very emotional for me as looking at poor people who beg for food gave me a lot of blessings. During this experience I was able to cover a lot of learning outcomes, the learning outcome are :
Learning outcome 4: Show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experiences
So as mentioned above, I had to make food for 10 people for 5 days. Which took a significant amount of my time and energy but it was all worth it as it was for a cause and it made me feel proud as a person as I did an act of kindness.
Learning outcome 6: Demonstrate engagement with issues of global significance
About 821 million people in the world don’t have enough food to eat. That’s a huge number! This CAS experience enabled me to act towards the second sustainable development goal which is Zero hunger.
Learning outcome 7: Recognise and consider the ethics of choices and actions
During this experience, I realized that I shouldn’t waste food and take hunger as a serious issue. Before doing this experience, I remember wasting a lot of food at home and eating outside. Now I know the importance of food in people’s lives. And I will never forget about those 821 million people who don’t have access to food before thinking of wasting any of the food that I have. I will always encourage others around me to help poor people and act towards solving the Zero hunger goal.
Evidence:
While giving them food, I felt bad for clicking photos as the poor felt like they were being used as props, 1 person even denied receiving food as I was taking a picture ,hence, I decided to only click one photo as it is important for showcasing my evidence
