CAS EXPERIENCE- HINDI BHASHA DIVAS

Description:

I have always been vocal about my culture and values, and hindi language is a part of my culture. At school and in today’s world the Hindi language itself is losing values, we see parents tutoring and educating their children to not speak in Hindi and to only use English as a language, and I am a strong opposer of this as English is a language not knowledge. So to do my bit for my culture, I thought of taking part and organising this Hindi Bhasha Divas with my friends, so that we together can bring this awareness so that we together can speak Hindi with pride.

Learning Outcomes:

LO1—Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth

I am good at communication as a learner-profile and an attribute, but when it comes to Hindi itself, I am a little weak at the language, especially the grammar part of it and the good vocabulary side of it. So the biggest challenge in this task for me was to develop my vocabulary and grammar at main. When I was researching and planning out with the other members, I found out or noticed at deep about this weakness of mine which could have undermined out quality presentation on final day, so for that I did some tasks and carried out content and which was then verified by the supervisors(Hindi teachers), which helped me then develop my content and about the presentation part I was confident at that so now the group was ready to present best part of the Hindi language to our audience so that they can truly take pride in their culture.

LO2 – Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process

As I stated earlier, I was very weak at planning or developing the content itself, and delivering it in a short period of time with upcoming deadlines was a major challenge for me. So what I had to do is I took help of my mom, and my other team members which were good at Hindi, and then we came up with the best possible content to present, and as it was a first time experience for me it was definitely hard. But then once I overcame this challenge when I reviewed back what we had done, I thought that we have done an amazing job and developing the grammar part of Hindi will help me in my assignments and other presentations for Hindi in the future.

LO3 – Demonstrate how to initiate and plan a CAS experience

The planning was basically the backbone of this project, as this event had to be planned out at first, so that we could present on the final day. I myself am not much of an organized person but our teachers requested or I guess made it compulsory for us to lay out the plan for them so that they can get this event approved and ongoing for us to do, so I guess the most challenging part of this was to plan out the event, as to change the Hindi notion which was the main purpose of this event we had to come with something which had to extremely good, interesting and motivating for others so we came up with a set of games, experiences and even the timetable of our event, with days of mock presentation, internal group discussions, final run, all set so that we can present the best of ourselves on the final day.

LO4 – Show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experiences

We had less time for us to plan out all things and practice for the final day as we had a lot of deadlines and summative assessments cornered up during that month, but still this event had to go hit, so for that keeping in mind our study table, we planned out basically an event basically like once in 2 days, which helped us get this event through. Giving commitment to this event was hard as our schedules were packed but I think we all did it through and we eventually figured common time slots and we planned, practiced and presented, which was all quality work at the end. I guess if we had not shown perseverance this event’s primary purpose would have not got spotlight which was the important thing so I feel it’s because of our perseverance that the event was a success.

LO5 – Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively

I am a person who functions I guess more effectively when I am alone, so I am not that good as a team player, but this event was something that I could not do myself, I had to be part of the team and I had to get the job done, so for me the collaboration was a tough job. The most difficult part of collaboration was getting things done on times, and I can’t blame my team members because of the busy schedule we had during that time, but still the job had to be done, so I was proactive and motivated my team members and myself, to get the job done for which I from start planned out and executed things on time like getting the meeting invitation 2 days in advance so that people create the time for the job to be done. In the end, I think the event went out well, and it was mainly because of the group efforts, as this was not a one man show but a group thing and the group I think if were not there the event would have failed.

LO7 – Recognize and consider the ethics of choices and actions

The purpose of this activity, the idea of getting and speaking Hindi with pride was I guess would definitely hurt people who preach English is the best but I think the greater good is that English is a language and not knowledge, so for to people to accept this I think we had to put up our show and stay focused with our ideas and preparation and had to forget about others feeling as this was a task for the countries, cultures, peoples good, as Hindi is a part of an identity of an Indian national.

Final Takeaways:

To conclude, I would like to say that the event went very well, I as a person was definitely was more synergized in the end of task, I was a better communicators and the notion or the purpose of the event was to an extent served and people really enjoyed the event as we could see smiling faces and people laughing and truly enjoying. I think the only thing that required change was time duration as if we had more time we could have more fun and the event would have been a bigger success, so I think time constraint was something we could have convinced our teachers for more. After completing this activity I felt a sense of relief and accomplishment for what I did for my culture.
