Home Workout (Activity)

Working out at home became the most essential thing during the pandemic. I had absolutely no motivation to work out at home, but this CAS experience gave me the opportunity of doing so. It is very important to keep ourselves fit and healthy these days since we had been stuck inside our homes and there was no physical activity to be done. Regular exercise and physical activity promotes strong muscles and bones in our body, adding on it also improves respiratory, cardiovascular health and our overall health.

In the process of the experience, I demonstrated LO1, LO2 and LO4.

LO1: Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth.

Home workouts did help me identify my own strengths and weaknesses. Before starting workouts at home, I knew that muscular endurance was my strength due to years of playing basketball. Workouts helped me improve my strengths and also focus on my weakness of core strength. So in order to work on my weakness, my workout focused more on core strength exercises and I made sure that in the beginning I did easier exercises.

LO2 : Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process.

I started the home workouts after taking a break of a month so in the beginning of the experience it was very exhausting to do workouts and some workouts required too much strength so that was a challenge for me. Taking breaks in between workouts was not fruitful so I had to complete full workouts so that it can be effective. As there was no professional supervision while doing the workouts at home, so sometimes I used to workout in the wrong way resulting in pain in my body and this was yet another challenge for me. So in order to find a solution to this problem, I used to watch youtube videos on how the exercise should be done and for what duration it is to be done.

LO4 : Show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experiences.

Workouts always need commitment and perseverance. Commitment is the most important factor when going after a body changing goal. It is very hard to commit in the beginning, but once you get yourself going, it gets easier. Similarly, it was very difficult for me to commit to workouts along with the stress of studies side-by-side. It was never easy to take out time everyday but I pushed myself and got out of my comfort zone.

In conclusion this experience helped me portray the learner profile balanced and risk-taker. While doing this challenge I was committed towards completing it and also I used to balance it by having healthy food and working out helped me to stay fit during the course of the lockdown. I also showcased the SDG- Good Health and Well-Being.
