Cycling

During the lockdown I started the activity of cycling.  I would wake up at 7 in the morning and go out with my friend to the airport and back. The entire trip took around 1 hour, and the circuit was around 20 km long. Initial goal was to complete 100 kms but after my goal was achieved found myself attracted to cycling so I still continue till this day

L1.Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth

I identified my own skills and areas of development during the ride. When I started doing the circuit I found myself very exhausted. When I returned from the first trip I almost fainted. With that I learned that my stamina was not what I thought it was. That was an area for development. To overcome this I started to pace myself and made completing it the only priority, and chose to forget the time I take. After only 2 days I found that now my body was comfortable with the new challenge and  I was able to put in record times without even losing my breath.

L2: Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills

Cycling 20 kms was a humongous task for me, not only because it was something that I had never done before but also because I never thought of myself completing such a humongous task. But under this CAS experience I learned that nothing is impossible if you put your heart to it , and  I am proud to say that now because of this challenge I have gained the skill of cycling.

L3

When I started cycling I had to make sure that doing that would not affect my other activities and responsibilities. So I planned this experience with great care and effort. First I examined the traffic status, with the help of google maps and my own personal experience of living in the city for 16 years. After that I was able to identify 2 time periods of when I could do this without disturbing my other activities and responsibilities. These two times were 9pm and 7 am. I found 9pm not very feasible as by that time I would be completely tired and I might blow off doing this, so I picked 7 am and began this CAS experience.

L4. Show perseverance and commitment in CAS experience

After the first day I felt that this experience was not for me. I was feeling very tired, irritated due waking up so early and unsatisfied with the plan I made. But I know that when I sign up for something I must stay committed to it. So against my best thought and great pleasure I chose to do this activity again the other day and after that the next day and so far and so forth. I never once shied away and that should show my commitment and actions to preserve the experience.
