Parkinson’s disease is a neurodegenerative disorder and a chronic disease. That affects the dopamine-producing neurons in the region of the brain known as the substantia nigra. The neurons present in the substantia nigra region on the mid-brain mainly use dopamine as a neurotransmitter to pass impulses.
Dopamine is also a hormone and a neurotransmitter which is essentially responsible for controlling movements of a person as well as emotional responses like motivation, achievement and etc…A right balance of dopamine is important for physical and mental well-being. As some vital functions like mood, sleep, memory, learning and etc. are dependent upon levels of dopamine in one’s body.
Parkinson’s degrade the dopamine-releasing neurons in the midbrain, essentially affecting the movements of the person and the emotional responses. As a impact, the person feels slowness in movements, limb/muscle rigidity, locomotion and balancing problem. While it also affects a person’s emotional response, as the person might experience depression, anxiety, Hallucinations and Delusions, Mood Disorders and etc..
Mainly, Muscular system is affected in person diagnosed with parkinson. As the person experiences locomotion and balance problems, stiffness in movements. Which are directly connected with the muscular system.
Which would impact the family members mainly, as to keep support the person physically whenever the person feels a tremor, unease while moving and also support emotionally whenever the person undergoes a mood disorder like anxiety, depression and etc. Which would also cause a relationship imbalance. As an example of two brothers A and B. where A is diagnosed with Parkinson’s the parents would have to pay more attention towards A as he requires physical and emotional support. While B has to be independent.
Diagnosis: There is no specific test to detect Parkinson’s disease, while ruling out the symptoms of Parkinson’s can help to detect it. The doctors could see the complete medical history with review of signs and symptoms with a complete neurological and physical disorder, Imaging test such as MRI, Ultrasound of brain, SPECT and PET scans can help to detect.
There is no standard treatment for Parkinson’s as it, while there is treatment for symptoms of Parkinson’s which include medications and surgical therapy, lifestyle modifications like getting more rest and doing exercise. While there is a theory going on transplanting cells from a healthy person to a Parkinson’s diagnosed person in the midbrain. While again it questions the ethnic moral and values of a society like inequalities : religion, gender and etc. Also, which is a theory and maybe someday it might be true but it would require a lot of precision to do it.
Social: Parkinson’s majorly affects the social life of a person, as there would be difficulty having a good relationship. Majorly for some high school students Parkinson’s is a way to bully the child and emotional suppress him/her, due to physical and emotional imbalance.
Economical: Parkinson’s disease has 5 stages which, as the complexity increases more attention would be required which would cause family members to invest more time and money to take care of that person.
Political: Nowadays countries has introduced policies for people having Parkinson’s, as these people in the society need to be taken more care of.
