Robin hood army (5)

Robinhood army

The Robin Hood Army is a zero-funds organization that works to get surplus food from restaurants and communities to the less fortunate. I wanted to give back to society, I had seen huge portions of food being wasted in several areas and it made me realise how those who aren’t as privileged strive for what we throw without a second thought and thus took a part in this organization.

LO 1: Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth

An external strength for this service was that this was a big organization, they had all the resources needed for making this service a success, they sourced food from different restaurants over the city and several others along with me helped collect it and distribute it from time to time.

LO 2: Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process

A challenges that i faced during this was with decision making skill, the entire group needed a leader someone they could rely on for deciding the days to conduct the food donation drives, dividing them into groups and segregating them on bases of who would collect the food, who food donate and the people that would help keep count and clean ups to increase the efficiency of the project. This made me a group member and a leader, leadership is a skill that one must acquire to achieve success in the long run.

LO 3 -Demonstrate how to initiate and plan a CAS experience and :O

To plan and initiate this service we needed to assemble at a convenient meeting spot. Irrespective of how repetitive it gets over the weeks, for the new recruits – it helps to share the vision and current plans. Ownership will only come when people are passionate about the RHA.The Discussion and allocating plans which can be carried out over the week– scouting roads for homeless clusters, allocating restaurant leads and how to make RHA a household name in my city.Running  everyone through the steps needed to be followed for the evening’s distribution – which places we are going to acquire team/food distri- bution between cars, routes to be followed, getting everyone mentally prepared for what they will experience, and the importance of taking quality pictures.Explaining why pictures are important. On RHA’s first night of distribution, I realized that helping the less fortunate feels good personally, but honestly feeding 50 people a night, once a week is not going to create any real difference in a country where millions are starving. For that we need to reach out to more people, more restaurants and more cities – and the best way to spread the word is to capture our journey over photos. Making what we do legit and inspires like-minded people to join the RHA.

LO 6: Demonstrate engagement with issues of global significance

The world hunger is a significant issues globally, zero hunger is a SDG that the UN wants to achieve by 2030, with small yet effective organization like the robin hood army are a way to pave the way for the changed that is required, from people all over the world can see photos of this initiative and become truly motivated to bring change and come together for the betterment of tomorrow.
