CAS Experience 7: Instagram Page

The experience was to set up a page on social media app, Instagram. I made a page about saving water where I outline ways to save water and scary statistics about water wastage and how little water we have left. I had this experience from the 5th of January to the 21st of February. I made a total of 27 posts, which averages down to one post every 2 days. Being a social media user myself, I did not want to spam people’s feeds and also tried to make my posts as concise as possible in order to create maximum impact. This was a service experience.

Learning Outcomes

Learning Outcome 2: Demonstrate challenges have undertaken, developing new skills in the process

Finding images that were impactful as well as concise was a challenge, to post one image, I had to do thorough research in order to find the best posts that the audience still remembers the image.

Learning Outcome 3: Demonstrate how to initiate and plan a CAS experience

I had planned this in advance, hence I was able to get out few posts fast, this helped create an impact on the audience where they thought that the page was providing good information and that they should check it for regular updates.

Learning Outcome 4: Show commitment and perseverance towards CAS

I made a total of 24 posts, which is not very easy, I had to research for the best posts thoroughly, which required time. I devoted my time and energy to this experience.

Learning Outcome 6: Demonstrate engagement with issues of global significance

Water crisis is a global issue. Millions of people suffer every year, many children are malnourished because they do not have water to drink, water is very important in nourishment of children. People die, there are droughts in some places where people do not get to drink water for days on ends.

Learning Outcome 7: Recognize and consider the ethics of choices and actions

I try to save as much water as possible, but I have seen a lot of people who do not care if the tap is open, or leaking or that the shower is on for 15-20 minutes. I wanted to inspire people to save water so that we as a community can help each other and save the Earth.

To conclude, it was a good experience and I hope that the impact of my Instagram page will be enough to inspire people to save water. If I inspired people to save water, I would consider my page a success
