Collecting and Donating clothes

Service – Collecting and donating clothes.

It can get very cold during the winters so I decided to take up an experience that would again help the unprivileged it can get very cold out there and there are many people who don’t even have blankets to cover themselves so I decided to make posters and flyers about donating clothes like socks blankets sweaters etc and later on I collected them and donated the warm clothes to the people around my house. My goal was to help out the needy children and adults , I collect the clothes and with the help of a few people I was easily able to do the task.

LO 3 Demonstrate how to initiate and plan a CAS experience

Me and my group planned out the whole clothing drive , we first made an announcement about the dates in our neighbourhood and collected the clothes , this was a simple experience and therefore there was no conflicting points between group members , lather we planned out how we would divide the clothes to be donated and we divided all the members and each member was allocated a location to donate the clothes.

LO 4 Show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experiences

We all worked out a schedule and worked according to it , we committed to the schedule and finished our work on time , it was easy to stay committed to this experience because the workload was divided between the members and everyone just had to do small tasks which would not disturb our daily routine.

LO 5 Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively
I have always been very independent, I like working alone because I think it helps finish the task on time , but in this task I had to take help from few of my family members, because caring big heavy bags of clothes and handing them out all together could have been a bit difficult, and I even needed one more person to click my pictures , so this made me realise that teamwork and collaboration is not that bad and in such cases it helps get things done quicker, it made me realise that teamwork and collaborating with others is important because eventually, this will help me succeed while working with others and it helps getting things done smoothly.

LO 6 Demonstrate engagement with issues of global significance
I dealt with the problem of poverty, it makes me sad that there are people who don’t even have proper clothes to where , many children gets sick during winters because they don’t have enough clothes on them , in order to reduce this problem near my house , I tried my best to collect clothes from my neighbourhood and even donated a bunch of my clothes and blankets along with theirs , this made me happy and sad at the same time, I was happy that I could help out few people near by , but I was sad because there are still a lot of people out there who needs help with many other challenges faced by unprivileged people and I hope to reach out to even bigger crowds of people and reduce their daily struggles.

LO 7 Recognize and consider the ethics of choices and actions

I believe that it is wrong of people to throw away their clothes or not empty out their closets and donate clothes , people living in poverty cannot afford to buy warmers during winters , they suffer during the nights when temperature drops majorly and by simply giving them extra clothes we can reduce their suffering so this is an issue of ethics , we as a society are responsible to play our part in helping the needy and this experience just made this belief of my stronger , i did this as a cas experience but i plan to do this same activity every year with my group and serve the needy not only because i like to help the needy but also l believe that it is my duty to do so.
