Creating a plasma donation website

CAS PROJECT

Group members – Dipit, Hriday and Vyom

Creativity and Service

We know how important plasma can be for covid patients, and we have been seeing people with a huge following on social media posting about people asking for plasma for different blood groups in different cities so there might be people who won’t have the chance of getting a story and they might not be able to get the required plasma, which is why we thought of making a website for this to make the transfer of plasma easier for everyone by making a platform where people could get the plasma and people could donate their plasma.

we won’t be providing them with the medical help of getting the plasma transfer we will help them connect with each other and later they will have a conversation started on the website where they can discuss the details for the plasma transfer.

SO the website acts as a social media with two user types one will be a donor and one being received and then the donor’s feed will have people’s details who wants their plasma and the receiver’s feed will have donor’s data and how they can contact them.
Some changes were made in the layout while making the website.

Learning outcomes achieved:- LO1, LO2, LO3, LO4, LO5, LO6

Learning outcome 1, Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth
Identified the strength of making web sites and kept the area of growth as using selection while printing output from the database as we will need to alter data and just the show the data of people who live in their city, have the same blood group and are a donor/ receiver according to their need instead of the whole table.

Learning outcome 2, Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process

Challenge to sort the data, and creating the website as soon as possible as faster we produce the website more helpful the website would be considering the current circumstances.

Learning outcome 3 Demonstrate how to initiate and plan a CAS experience

Planning upon how we would go about making the website, Firstly we decided what all features do we want on our website, then how would the layout or interface look and how would we make it. Planning allowed us to create the website more easily and efficiently.

Learning outcome 4 Show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experiences

We are keeping the website online the whole time, and keeping track if there is a server error or feedback received. Also, we are thinking of changing the website purpose by providing a vacation site on this link to show commitment. To add on, the website building process also took 1 month and a few days.

Learning outcome 5 Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively

As different people bring their skills to the table, it helped me a lot working with my friends, as the people I was in this project were friends with whom I have been really close which allowed me to have an instant connection and be as frank as I want to be. Which kept the conversation and work productively as we would give each other honest feedback, also the help of each other during project building was really important.

Learning outcome 6 Demonstrate engagement with issues of global significance                                    As the issue mentioned above people weren’t able to get the required plasma they needed for their covid treatment and they eventually had to go through a lot of pain which is why our website bridged a small gap in the transfer which how we engaged with an issue and was a global issue ‘covid-19’
