Participating In VISTOSA (Putting up a stall)

I have always wanted to show my artwork to a lot of people and wanted to experience
Everything an artist could experience. One of my classmates was organizing an event for a CAS project, which gave me a huge opportunity to show my artworks to the crowd and put up a stall for the same. Learned a lot in a single event and turned out to be the perfect experience an artist can have.

LO1: Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth
• This was the first time putting up a stall for my work, which itself says that I had a lot of areas for growth. Putting up a stall didn’t mean just to put my work on the table, it was way more than that. Presentation, Environment and the type of crowd were the main things to keep in mind.
Throughout the whole experience, I knew my strengths was my artwork and my skills which made this experience worthwhile and successful.
But yet there were a lot of things that I had to improve like my presentation, I didn’t give a lot of attention to the presentation which was one of the reasons why a lot of customers were not attracted to my work.
One of my biggest areas of growth would be not paying attention to the audience, when perfecting my artworks, I forgot about the audience the type of audience attending the fair.

L2. Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills
• This was the biggest challenge, as it was my first time ever doing something like this, but the more I faced challenges the more I learned and gained knowledge for the same.
• I knew there were going to be a lot of challenges that I was going to face like sharing a stall which was huge as we had to work together yet individually to show our artworks, but with a great group, we were soon able to overcome the challenges.

L5. Demonstrate skills and benefits of working collaboratively

• I work great in teams and in this case I was sharing a stall with 3 other artists which immediately meant that we had to work collaboratively to bring out our artworks to the crowd, It kind benefited all of us because of working together we were able to learn a lot, how to divide space and how to present, not only this but because I was facing a lot of problems presenting my artworks they all helped me, gave me few of their stuff and their ideas to present in the best way possible.

L7. Recognise and consider the ethics of choices and actions.

Customer service: I treated every customer with respect and answered their inquires about by artwork with proper information. I needed to make sure that the representation of my artwork would not offend or degrade any communities or culture.

Personally, I think this CAS experience was one of a kind, not only will it help me now but also in the future. I faced a lot of problems but in the end, I had a successful experience as I was able to sell one of my artworks. I was able to pull this off because of my strength, my skills and my group.
