Participating in a Cricket tournament

In this activity, I participated in a cricket tournament that was organised by a few of the other students, this was a whole new experience for me, as a cricket tournament was a new concept for me. It was a friendly match between all the teams, but it served the purpose of fun and service.

L1. Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth
Since it was a sport, I definitely identified few of my strengths and weakness while playing, like weak stamina, running and catching these was few of the areas where I was lacking, while bowling was one of my strength as it was easier than bating. I got to know a lot about cricket there were rules that I never heard of. And due to lockdown, I was not able to play any physical activity so, this was after a long time after, but it kind of made it easier to identify my strenk=th and my weakness.

L2. Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills
As it was a whole new experience for me, and for a few of my other teammates, it made it harder for us to understand the rules of the game and playing the game itself was hard. The most challenging part of the whole game was the speed and the catching for us and also bating, as I was not able to balance the weight of the bat. The new skill that I developed was definitely playing this game, it developed a whole new set of skills for me like running, catching, bowling and a few more.

L5. Demonstrate skills and benefits of working collaboratively
Cricket is a team sport, in our team, we were approximately 9-10 people, it was an all-girl team. Working in a team also means working collaboratively to win, and respecting each of the players, working in teams allowed us to use the unique strengths of each of the players. We were not used to playing cricket so it was a bit hard for us to play against anybody but we figured each of the team’s strengths and worked with what we had and each of us collaborated and played a good match, ad won one match which we were happy and appreciative about, each one of us developed a new skill, like bowing, catching and bating these were the main three we developed a skill for not really best at it but improved from what we were at the start. Catching was the hardest as our hand and eye coordination was not the best or on point.

LO6: Demonstrate engagement with issues of global significance

The money collected by the team, were used to buy books and other things for the needy children and donated to the NGO. This covered the SGD goal of Quality Education, the money that was donated helped them achieve a certain standard of quality in their education.

To conclude it was a fun activity to do after a long time, not only it was fun and new but I gained a lot more knowledge about cricket, got to know new rules and develop a lot of new skills and identified a few more.
