Home Workout – Activity

Due to lockdown, I had become lethargic and soon realized I was following a very unhealthy diet. To overcome the same I wanted to get back to playing badminton and having the same fitness and stamina I had before lockdown. However, I could not immediately start playing like I used to. I had to build my stamina and endurance again. To do so, I first started by working out at home and attending online PS classes each alternate morning.

LO 1: Identify their own strengths and develop areas for personal growth.
Before starting, I knew that my legs were my strength due to doing swimming for years but I struggled with arms and core. It was important to be aware of the same to help me build my endurance through the activity. Therefore, for the activity to have the maximum benefits, I made it a point to find workouts focused on improving my strength while also working on my weaknesses.

LO 2: Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process
One of the significant challenges I faced was to stay motivated. I had to push myself to overcome the mental obstacles I had created for myself and to keep my workouts consistent. I had days where I felt lethargic and wanted to give up, but I kept pushing myself, even if it was simply to mark it off my to-do list. Another challenge I faced was the body aches after the initial workouts. And as mentioned above, I did not exercise during the lockdown which made it challenging to be able to hold exercises for long periods of time during the start.

LO 3 – Demonstrate how to initiate and plan a CAS experience
The most essential aspect of the cas exercise was creating a strong workout schedule that I could stick to every week. I started looking at training routines and came up with a four day plan when I initially started and gradually increased it to a 6 day plan with one or two days off in the middle. I also tried to include something new each week and attended PS classes to challenge myself and keep me interested.

LO 4: Show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experiences
As stated above, motivation to workout daily was a challenge for me but I pushed myself to at least complete 30 to 45 mins of workout each day. Staying committed to the activity was very difficult at the start but as I kept noticing the benefits and could hold exercises longer, it motivated me to do and challenge myself more. I was able to convince myself to do it rigorously to attain my stamina and endurance again.

Conclusion
Even though it was difficult to overcome my lethargicness and start physical exercise to regain my stamina, the effects were clearly visible. mY posture has improved a lot and I feel more energetic now. I am able to hold exercises longer now demonstrating gain in endurance and stamina. I demonstrated the learner profiles balanced and reflective throughout the activity. I was balanced eating healthy food and exercising enabled me to remain mentally and physically fit and build my immunity while this worldwide epidemic. I was also reflective when I noticed my weaknesses and strengths and worked upon the same.
