CAS experience 1

Video reflection:

Activity- Any form of physical exercise for 30-40mins, 4 days a week

During the lockdown period and even after lockdown, there was hardly any physical activity I was indulged in, all I did was eat, watch TV, do some work in the kitchen, study, and sleep. My weight started to increase and I always felt lazy and sleepy. I did not want to do any work, just lay down like a bear, and this made me so frustrated that I decided to do something about it. So taking CAS experiences as an opportunity I took a challenge of doing any kind of physical activity/ exercise at least 4 days a week, for 30-40 minutes, which would help me stay fit and fresh. These physical activities included me going out cycling with my friends, or going out to walk and run with my dad, or if not these then doing a home workout with various different youtube videos.

The learning outcomes I focused on were LO1, LO3, and LO4.

LO1- Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth

I identified my strengths of how good my core and thighs are, and also got to know my weaknesses in stamina, upper body and legs. After understanding my strengths and weakness was very helpful as I balanced my workout accordingly keeping in mind that I focus on improving my stamina, and upper body strength with appropriate exercises, which helped me make my body fit.

LO3- Demonstrate how to initiate and plan a CAS experience & LO4- Show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experiences

I did plan my workout routine. In a week, 1 day I went to walk jog, 1 day I went to cycle with my friends, and the rest of the days I did a home workout through youtube videos. It was very hard to convince myself out of bed in the morning to exercise, and maintain consistency. There were days when I missed a workout, but gradually I got trained to the timing and planned my sleep schedule accordingly so that I am fresh in the morning to workout. I developed skills of punctuality, and balance as I made time to workout in my daily routine, and this would definitely help me in the future. To be true I am very lazy especially in the mornings, and to commit to my workout plan was really a task for me. It was important for me to commit to my schedule as only then I’d be able to see results that I aimed for.

To conclude, I believe and consider this as a success to my goal and aim. My fitness has improved from what it was before, and this is obviously not the end. I am planning to join a sports academy to make my fitness fun. This experience helped me figure out my own strengths and made me understand what I am capable of. There were many things that I was not able to do before like Push-ups, running more than 10 mins continuously, which I am able to do now; and this definitely will help me further in my confidence and actions. If I had to change 1 thing in this experience then I would change my location. Doing workouts at home was a bit boring, it would have been great if I choose to do it in my building’s garden, or choose a different type of workout like learning a new sport through coaching, but again my goal to do exercise everyday hasn’t changed and so I will do in regularly with applying these some changes. Inshort this experience was really fun and helped me feel fresh and active.
