Organic Farming

LO1, LO2: During the lockdown, I took this as a challenge, and learned how to grow local organic vegetables. Having no knowledge about organic farming, I took advice from my grandparents and several apps in order to make optimum conditions for growing specific vegetables.

LO3: I wrote out the steps from developing an idea to implementing a plan on a sheet of paper which helped me assist through the process step by step.

LO4: Organic farming is a more time-consuming job than conventional farming because fertilizers that speed up development are not used. As a result, my dedication and perseverance were required at all times.

LO5: I was involved in cooperating with a number of individuals while learning something new that I had never done before, which helped me understand the positives and drawbacks of collaboration.

LO6: The issue I wanted to address was the SDG, good health, and well-being. This is because chemical pesticides and fertilizers often have a detrimental impact on consumers. In order to eliminate this, I took the challenge of producing organic vegetables and mangoes.

LO7:

The ethical issue involved with this activity was that; there was a bug that was eating away the basil. Thus to keep it away I had to use a cheap Nitrogen based chemical OR I could buy neem oil. Nitrogen based chemical would go against my purpose and would affect the environment yet, it was a cheaper option. In the end I chose to use neem oil extract
