CAS Reflection

Experience – Beach clean up

In this experience I will be cleaning a certain area of the beach by picking up trash that was left by other people that had gone there and left some trash over there or was washed up on beach. My goal was to try and clean the beach as much as I possibly could, considering I was alone and there was very slow rain that made it difficult to clean.

LO 4 –  Show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experiences

I had shown commitment and perseverance to the CAS Experience as I had gone to the Beach once a week for three weeks. Sometimes travelling all the way to the beach was difficult as it would be raining sometimes.

LO 5 – Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively

It was quite difficult to clean the beach and cover as large a ground as possible which would have been hard to do but was made easier as there was a friend there with me. As mentioned above, one of the issues that was faced by me was that there would be issues with transport. But since I was going to the beach with a friend of mine it helped that I sometimes travel with him if needed to.

LO 6 – Demonstrate engagement with issues of global significance

A lot of the trash that me and a friend of mine found at the beach was made from plastic and I’m not sure if the trash that I had found was something that was dropped there by visitors or whether it was there because it got washed up. Global significance here has been the pollution that is there in the oceans and how it impacts the world.

LO 7 – Recognize and consider the ethics of choices of actions

One of the largest ethical issues that were involved during this activity was the worldwide pandemic. While things were relatively under control and there were only 2 people, it had been still a risk for folks because the beach may be a public place and that there was an opportunity that we’d be exposed to the virus.

To conclude, I feel we did a reasonably good job so as to assist the environment around us be clean and that we must do that regularly in order that we are connected to our surroundings.A learner profile attribute I developed was ‘caring’. it absolutely was notably interesting to determine the opposite people at the beach observing us. They looked inspired by our initiative and would often come up to us to ask questions about what we were doing and what school we were studying at.
