Working as a graphic designer for school clubs (CAS 5)

Students from my school have started up many different clubs such as design club, literature club, debate club, school newspaper, and much more. Most of them needed a graphic designer to make their posters and logos. So I thought it would be a great opportunity for me to work for clients. I started as of September and made logos for several clubs like debate, design club, and art club and signed up to be a graphic designer for the school newspaper.

L02 – Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills

in the process

This was the first experience where I had to use my communication skills as I was not working as an individual. I had to ask people what they wanted and convert that into a product and work on feedback and criticism and more. It was hard for me to take in criticism and learn from my mistakes but I think I learned to accept criticism.

L04 – Show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experiences

I had to go out of my comfort zone and communicate with everyone in the clubs to keep asking them questions and asking for what they wanted. I had to commit to every club and especially the newspaper club to keep in touch with members to make the posters and social media posts. So I had to engage in the experience actively

LO5 – Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively

As I was a part of a team and I had to work for and with people rather than working individually I had to demonstrate and learn skills to work together as a team by getting comments and feedback on my work and asking people what they wanted in their logo or work. Communication skills made a heavy impact here

This CAS experience was very beneficial for me as a person as it taught me the importance of communication skills and working collaboratively, this will be a useful learning experience as I plan to go into the design field, and communication with the client is very vital
