LO’s: develop own strengths and areas of growth, skills,commitment and perseverance.
Since I was a small child, I have loved to take pictures. However, this was irregular due to various responsibilities I had as a student. Initiating this CAS experience has given me a chance to fulfil my interests.
L1 – Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth
This experience has helped me to identify my own strengths and weaknesses, particularly in photography. Now I am quite confident and aware of my mistakes and what I can do to improve or correct them. For me, it is very much important to be aware of our own strengths and weaknesses. This is because it helps you in self development. In photography, my weakness was that I could time my shots. However, we know that practice makes a man perfect. I tried to capture many fast moving objects and I failed initially. But then, I knew when to press the button!
L2 – Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken developing new skills
Developing new skills was one of my aims as to why I chose photography as an experience. It was very much challenging, but on the other hand it was exciting for me too. I challenged myself to click some pictures which require less exposure to light and more time for shutter speed. This was not easy for me. To click these pictures, you have to be at the right place at the right time, if not, you miss your shot of the day! In this process, I discovered a technique that I had not learned yet. The camera offers various features, if you acquire the knowledge about the features, you get to know which feature can help you in those situations. For example, to increase the tanning effect,you can change the AWB(auto white balance) more towards daylight and cloudy.
L4-commitment to and perseverance
Anything you choose to do or achieve requires commitment and perseverance to it. It was not hard for me to be committed towards this experience as I liked it. To complete this experience, I had to make a fixed timetable or schedule. I had to carry my camera everywhere so that I could make use of every opportunity I got and click these pictures. Showing perseverance and commitment is increasingly important in this world. Commitment and perseverance give time to the aim, and giving the appropriate time and utilizing the most of it helps you achieve your aim.
Taking this experience made me a thinker. I like to take pictures of nature. Even before my experience, I have clicked many pictures. Natural photography captures the beauty of our nature. It made me think, we as humans are not completing our responsibilities regarding conserving nature. We are lost in economic development, disregarding nature. It made me realise that it is my duty to protect nature whenever possible.
