SPREADING AWARENESS ABOUT COVID-19 AND DONATING MASKSI CREATIVITY AND SERVICE

LO’s: skills and knowledge, commitment and perseverance, ethics, global significance, planning.

Covid-19 has become a pandemic and is widespread throughout the world. This is a tough time for many people. Some of them cannot even afford to buy basic necessities. This is why I decided to help such people.

At the time of writing this, there are more than 4.6 Million people in India affected by the virus. The number seems to be increasing day by day.  I knew that many people have lost their jobs and cannot afford masks, which has become a basic necessity today.  I made a chart with all the measures to take to prevent the spread of disease.

L2 – Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken developing new skills

I had planned to donate the masks to needy people. I never knew that I would face obstacles in this too. I went to a construction site, but the people refused to take my masks. So I had to find some new places where I could do so. I found a group of female workers and they were desperate for masks. I had to maintain distancing during this whole experience. I regularly sanitized my hands and made sure that I did not touch anything.  Explaining them the precautions was an easy task. I had to convey them in the local language so that they could understand.

L6-engagement with issues of global significance,

Covid19, no doubt, has become an issue of global significance. Combatting this is the main priority of all governments around the world.  We should look for positives in every situation. The advantage of this situation was that it helped me in my personal growth. Making a chart required creativity. I got to know people in my surroundings better and a lot more about their tough lifestyle. Now, I feel more knowledgeable about Covid19. I know the reason behind why we should take a particular precaution and know the science behind it.

L7-Recognize and consider the ethics of choices and actions

This experience has made me reflective of myself. It is ethical to help the poor, and I did so. Due to this experience, I am able to analyse every step I take and conclude whether it is right or wrong. Even if I take a wrong decision I choose not to be in denial. I have always believed that if you have more of something, you should give it to someone else, who requires that thing.
