My activity was to play cook. I already knew kitchen basics like chopping and making roti sabzi but I wanted to make delicious dishes as I am a foodie and like eating a variety of foods. I cooked like, twice or thrice a week and it helped me a lot. It was also an activity that was fun and reduced my stress. Most of the time I got a good result, sometimes it did not happen according to my expectations.
My mother, who was also my supervisor, was there all the time if I needed any help, but as the days passed, I became more independent and got sufficient results.
Learning Outcomes
Learning Outcome 1: Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth
Cooking would be counted as an area for growth because it is not really my forte, but after this experience, I can say that I know a thing or two about cooking and I can sustain myself if I am on my own during college or if I am alone at home.
Learning Outcome 2: Demonstrate challenges have undertaken, developing new skills in the process
Cooking is a challenge, especially when you do not know it. I got burnt twice and messed up dishes multiple times. But I grew over time and started to take more caution when I cooked. I developed a lot of skills in the experience, I touched the baking aspect of cooking, which I had never done before.
Learning Outcome 3: Demonstrate how to initiate and plan a CAS experience
I already knew cooking basics but I did not know any of the advanced techniques, so I learnt them from my mother, who was also my supervisor. I planned all the dishes a week in advance so that I could get the raw materials beforehand.
Learning Outcome 4: Show commitment and perseverance towards CAS
I cooked twice or thrice a week and whenever I had time. I cooked multiple times to get a dish right. I burned myself in the process but I kept on going. This was also beneficial to me because it will help me in my college.
To conclude, it was really fun cooking after a long time. I did it for CAS only, but I will now continue cooking more as I really like it. It will also help me in my college.
