Cycling

Cycling is the most ideal approach to remain fit, appreciate the outside, and have a great time. I began cycling as my CAS experience since it’s simpler on my body with less commitment . I had not stepped out of my home for very nearly 5 months because of the global pandemic, it made me realise that I wasn’t dealing with my wellness. The lockdown had affected both physical and emotional wellness. I chose to begin with cycling as it provides an efficient low-impact cardiovascular workout. It builds muscle in the lower body, which advances strength, endurance, stability and balance.

LO 1 = Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth

From the very first day, I had begun to recognize the strengths and weaknesses of the sport. I couldn’t cycle long distances with steady speed. Each time I pushed myself I was exhausted with body pain and was barely ready to sit on the cycle the next day. I chose to conquer my weakness by making regular cycling sessions. Focusing to recognize my strengths and weaknesses assisted me with seeing how weakness isn’t my defeat yet a chance to improve with a goal.

LO 2 = Demonstrate the challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process

I came across various challenges in the span of 4 months of cycling, the major challenge I faced was scheduling the cycle session, as I had a packed schedule and in morning I didn’t have enough time for cycling so later on, I decided and managed to schedule the cycling session after school between 5:30-6:00, everyday I use to cycle for half an hour, This allowed me to attend my school on time and after the cycling session I use to complete my homeworks and other educational tasks, which made me balance between education and physical health.

L4 = Show perseverance and commitment in CAS experience

After I started cycling, I committed that every week, I will go on cycling for a minimum of 3 days, and the most difficult thing I faced was to keep my commitment with the grade 11 and 12 study load, but I managed my schedule and kept my commitment.

Another trouble I confronted was conquering my weakness. Toward the beginning I had the option to go long distances with low speed however, I couldn’t do as such with greater speed. I followed my cycling sessions strictly and it assisted me with creating endurance. Without further ado, I started by speeding up gradually. The general cycle of building endurance and speeding up was unrushed however, it caused me from not encountering serious body pain.

LO 6= Demonstrate engagement with issues of Global Significance

After encountering the worldwide Covid pandemic, every global citizen has been more attentive towards their wellbeing and the climate they live in. This leads to awareness of numerous environmental issues, one of which is air pollution. I began to do my bit by cycling. I not just utilized my cycle for early morning exercises yet in addition to whatever at point I have nearby. This reduce my carbon footprint as a green method of transportation

Finally, cycling is a fun activity that permitted me to restore my sense which was weakened by remaining indoors because of the pandemic. The learner profile attributes I developed during this CAS experience was Balance, as I was able to balance my schedule between educational work and my physical health as well. The sport was very beneficial for my mental and physical wellbeing, in addition, it’s gainful for the climate and society overall as well. I learned many new life skills such as management, independence, fitness and a green method of transportation. It was a wonderful experience that permitted me to step out of my everyday routine and be relaxed without concerning pending tasks. I enjoyed sports and how it energized me for the rest of the day. I will keep on cycling for myself further in spite of the completion of it as a CAS experience.
