ECONOMICS CLUB
Economics is one subject of my interest and my possible career option for me. I am curious about economics and joining this club has helped me to gain some knowledge and to know the opinion of other people.
L1 – Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth
Economics club has helped me to be aware of my weakness and strengths regarding the subject. Before joining the club, I always thought that I knew more than other people about economics, but I was proved wrong. However, one of my strengths regarding economics is that most of the time I am able to think critically and from the perspective of other people.
L2 – Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken developing new skills
Several challenges were taken while doing the tasks in the economics club. For example, we had to do a debate on capitalism vs communism. I had to research these topics from viable sites, which are sometimes difficult to find. I also had to write an article on a self chosen topic. This was also tough for me as the topic I chose was one which I didn’t know a lot about.
L4-commitment to and perseverance
Joining any club requires commitment towards it. This was a long term experience for me. Whether it is submitting tasks on time, like I did for the article or it is debating, you have to be consistent and committed. I have been a member of the club for more than 6 months.
L5-. Demonstrate skills and benefits of working collaboratively
All the members of the club had to work together to accomplish tasks. In one debate, which was the free market and command market, we were against it. We had to create meets and docs so that all of us could add our points. At the end it was a healthy and a successful debate.
Finally, this has helped me in my communicating and interacting skills. It has allowed me to become more curious of how the big economy works.
