(CAS)- Activity
The learning outcomes I focused on were LO1, LO2, & LO4
The pandemic had drastic changes all around the world affecting everyone. During the lockdown, we had no other option but to stay at home. It was good for my mental health as there was no such workload and stress at the starting of the lockdown. We spent quality time with our family which gave some inner peace but as time passed the things started to get worse and by that point, my body was requiring some physical exercise. It was very important for me to spend at least an hour every day to keep myself fit and healthy. I challenged myself to workout for an hour every day after the reopening of the lockdown. I went to the gym with my father every day in the morning to maintain my health and feel better.
L1-Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth
I noticed that after the lockdown my body go lazier, there were a lot of things that I wasn’t able to do after the lockdown, mainly my stamina decreased in those 5-6 months. I knew that I could lift weights to 12 kgs on each side which was my strength while running for more than 2-3 minutes was very tiring for me at a normal speed on the treadmill. It was very important for me to know the area where I needed to work harder to achieve my target so I increased the level of workout in the same timings. I increased the mass of weights and increased the speed while running. This didn’t only help me to improve my weak areas but also enhanced my strengths.
L2-Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process
In the beginning, I wasn’t able to do the cardio and speedy exercise as I had lost my stamina and my body wasn’t out of the vacation mood. It was challenging for me to run for 10 minutes non-stop with average speed but as I practiced I started to do better day by day. I used to go for aerobic before the lockdown to keep myself active and fit but after the pandemic, the classes were close in line to follow the COVID guidelines. After I completed my challenge I felt so much better both physically and mentally.
L4-Show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experiences
After everything came back to the routine I started going to the gym early in the morning for an hour. Waking up at 6:30 am was not my cup of tea but that was the time when least people were there which made it a little safer for me to go in the covid situation. There were a lot of times when I had thoughts about skipping the gym for a day or two to complete my sleep cycle but later I realized that it was very important for me to start working out if I wanted to stay healthy in that situation. After some time I got used to the timings and I started waking automatically at that time without alarms buzzing me. After completing my challenge I felt more fresher and flexible.
To wrap things up I faced a few problems in the starting because of my lazy mood and the body adaptation during the lockdown but as time passed I realized the needed to keep myself healthy and that self willingness was my key to complete this experience with my target of working out for an hour every day for at least 3 months to keep myself healthy and fit.
