CAS Experience #9 – ISRO online course (Action)

For my ninth CAS experience i had taken an ISRO online course as i am interesting in technology.

I have always been fond of technology as a whole, and I wanted to know about its applications on terrestrial surveillance areas, such as remote sensing and satellite imaging.

LO1:

I wanted to learn about a lot of new thing regarding remote sensing and this was perfect as it had everything in detail. I had developed in many areas of growth such as commitment to my own pledge, where I had to constantly push myself to continue learning new things about remote sensing, such as how satellites collect information and how they are relayed to the data centers in the ground. I kept honesty when answering the quiz questions so that i would get my report genuinely.

My strength was in doing the MCQ questions since they only required memorizing concepts and I did not need to do much work to answer them. My weakness was in doing the memorizing of the information, as there was a lot of content to cover over the time of the online course. I believe that it would have had a great impact on

LO2:

This was a bit difficult as you were only allowed to attempt the quiz once and the results could not be changed, and so I had to learn and plan everything diligently. The questions were based on multiple choice. I had to devote a separate space and time to attempt the quiz as it was time based and I could not repeat if the time was up before i completed it. I found the questions that were asked to be extremely easy, and I barely stumbled on questions.

LO3:

The main thing about this course was that I had to initiate and plan a schedule, which was something that I had never thought of doing before. This was something that I had to put effort to follow, as I procrastinate way too often and it has come off as dangerous for my work and my projects. One gain from this CAS experience is that I have very effectively learnt how to manage and use my time in the most efficient way possible.

LO4:

It was difficult to maintain persistence as I had to watch the long livestreams everyday, and a few days i forgot so i had to watch many of them at once. This sort of procrastination caused me consequences, as I had to take out even more time to complete so many videos at once. I believe that this is an important lesson, and I should not repeat it in order to complete everything smoothly in a project in the future.

LO5:

The online course also included a discussion form, where I got the amazing opportunity to share and exchange knowledge with dozens of other users who were taking part in the very same course. I engaged in discussions about gravity, types of satellites, and I had also solved many of my queries by asking them on the forum.

I had also thanked them in the end.

LO6:

This course gave me an opportunity to learn about how remote sensing can predict environmental changes and measure various aspects of ecosystems and land, which help scientists to predict natural disasters and also use the data for civil purposes such as urban planning, This included the Sustainable development goals: 9 (Industry and Infrastructure), 11(Sustainable cities and developments) and 13(climate actions). This course itself was extremely eye opening for me as it showed the myriad of methods used.
