CAS experience 7( Make a travel Vlog)

Creativity- Make a travel Vlog

I have never been the one who takes a lot of pictures or videos, but saving memories is very important. During these vacations me and my cousins were going on a trip to Shimla and Chail, and I really wanted to capture all of it in a short video. I decided to just see a short video on key things to know while making a vlog and decided to make one for this trip.

The learning outcomes I focused on were LO1, LO2, LO4, & LO5.

LO1- Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth

When I was younger I begged my parents to take a DSLR because it was very trendy and fascinating. I got very excited to click pictures from different angles and of everything that I could find. I was obsessed, but somehow when I got older I lost connection to filming or photography. I definitely learnt new things while making this Vlog, I learnt many new terms like cinematography, highlight, focus point, etc. I also learnt how to edit photos and videos and club things together to make a video with music!! The end result of the vlog was not that professional but I tried my best and my cousins and other family members loved it!

LO2- Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process

It took me almost a day and half to make the vlog complete, plus the headache of capturing every moment while travelling. Editing is one of the hardest things in the world, you cannot find the correct timing ever, hats off to content creators. I took help from my sister and youtube and finally made a video at the end. My sister also helped in clicking and shooting some moments while we were travelling so that I could be seen in the video as well.

LO4- Show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experiences

Vlog isn’t an easy thing at all. I have to capture every important and significant moment, edit them, save the best out of lots taken, compile them, and finally compose. For me who does not like coming in a frame, making a vlog was a tiresome thing, but I didn’t give up, and I am glad I didn’t.

LO5- Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively

Me and my sister Rushali made this thing complete. Taking videos together and editing together wouldn’t have been complete if it weren’t for her. She is more fond of taking pictures and editing than I am so I got to learn a lot of things from her. It was very great making this vlog complete.

The learner profile attributes that I showcased in this experience were firstly, Inquirer- as learning how to make vlog is something I didn’t know, the editing and composition is what I learnt new. Secondly, Knowledgeable- I know a lot of new things in editing and shooting which would definitely help me on the next trip I’ll vlog. Thirdly, Reflective- this vlog was a kind of reflection of the trip we cousin had, and everytime we would watch it, it would be a reminder of the fun we had.

To conclude, I would definitely say this was a success, and I am glad that I took this as my CAS experience. This entire experience made me learn new things, connect more with my cousins, and make a memorable piece of art. This is definitely not the end, I look forward to making more vlog and capturing more memories in the future. The things I learnt and the experience I had doing this, I would use it in my daily lives as well as the times I travel, and keep improving.
