Cricket Tournament

I love to play cricket a lot. I had lot of interest in watching IPL, test matches, ODIs and T20s of India. I also liked to challenged different people. During the covid we were getting bored and than cracked with the idea of hosting a cricket tournament.

This, later I took as my CAS activity and hosted the tournament. We also planned to help the underprivileged families and make their raksha bandhan more interesting and fun with gifts for their brothers and sisters.

This activity also helped us to ensure our physical fitness and mental stability during the covid-19. As this was a fun and easy game everyone in our family enjoyed playing this and this was the best moment of covid-19 for them.

LO 1 : Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth.

There were two major weakness of mine. I had less team spirit and was not good at managing teams and things. So I decided to captain one of the teams and learned to have a good team spirit and great group work strategies. We altered each ones weakness to strength and made our teams the best. We also won the tournament.

Even my teams members guided me with all the decisions. I was also not a good player but during this tournament I learned many new bowling, batting and fielding techniques and improved my game a lot. I also had area of growth in fairplay I used to cheat a lot but while playing the tournament I realised that you should need to be fair with each others as each one has equally participated and worked for the sport and win.

LO 2 : Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process.

The first major challenge was having team spirit full high till end of the tournament. There were many players who got disappointed after they were out of when they gave lot of runs. But, me and my other teams members helped each others and kept motivated them full time and won the tournament.

The other major challenge was covid-19 restrictions and safety of all players. We ensures all covid protocols and kept sanitisatings stations at entrance of turf so that players can sanitise their hands when necessary. We wear mask full time removed only during tournament. We also kept first aid kids to ensure safety if the any of the players get injured.

LO 4 : Show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experiences

During the date of covid-19 pandemic the cases were rising but slight rate and people were little worried about their health conditions and virus contact. But, then we made them ensure that all protocols are followed and continued with the tournament.

During the covid-19 crisis the venues were also changing but atlast we got the venue but members decreased as this was club only few members were allowed. The last major barrier was targeting more group of audience to helping the maximum underprivileged families but due to civd-19 restrictions we only reached out to our family members.

LO 5 : Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively.

This activity required a lot of group work and toleration. Each players team spirit and participation is equally important. The wickets are dependent on bowlers and for this bowlers should be well motivated and focused to get the maximum number of wickes with least number of runs. The another departments comes is batting perfectly and score the most runs, Over here the batman should be energised and well motivated to not be disappointed if the get out.

The third major department is fielding department the fielders should be prepared and motivated because they should not be disappointed if the couldnt stop a boundary of drop a catch. Ensuring friendliness and patching up with each other was a big job in this sport. Also selecting the right player and right place was a big job done by teams members together to get best result out of each player.

LO 6 : Demonstrate engagement with issues of global significance.

Goal 1 : No poverty : Underprivileged families cannot earn much to gift their children’s, brothers or sisters gifts to make them happy on the day of festivals. They feel sad and depressed but to rectify this depression we also though making this tournament chargeable and used all the earned money to buy gifts for these low earnings families and make their festival more fun and enjoying.

Goal 2 : Reducing Inequalities : Reducing inequalities in India is much necessary. It has much of population living in absolute poverty line and this challenge doesnt allow them to enjoy the festival. I also feel sad when I see the difference between us and them .The huge gap of comfort level, so this is a small initiative to reduce this inequality. By making their festival at least happy in the phase of Covid-19.

LO 7 : Recognize and consider the ethics of choices and actions.

This activities matters us and underprivileged a lot. This activity was my parents motivation to do something interesting during the phase of covid-19. This activity will help us to reduce some inequality between underprivileged families and us. Not only this it will help us to ensure physical fitness. If this activity would have happened many people would not have enjoyed their festival, we would not have physical and mental well being improvement and not gain news skills. We would have also not got good memories during Covid-19 pandemic.
