Improve Football skills (Activity)

During the lockdown for the past 1 or 2 years I have not been playing any sport, including football, I used to play football before COVID but then I just completely stopped playing it, and it has definitely caused my skills to degrade, so now I decided to start playing it again and improve my skills. This experience caters to activity strand as it also contributes to a healthy lifestyle.

LO 1 : Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth

I identified that I had become too lazy staying in home all day long, not doing anything, which caused me to become more unhealthy and football, a sport I used to play, my skills had deteriorated, this was something I did not like and wanted to improve my skills, even just normal, passing, shooting etc. I worked upon this weakness which helped me to improve my skills and also contribute to my fitness.

LO 2 : Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process

The challenge over here was that I had not been doing any physical activity for a long time and then I just started playing football, I was only able to play for a few minutes, it caused me start breathing heavily and it was quite frustrating that I had degraded this much. So everyday I started to just play football alone, with the wall, and increase the strength of my passing, running and stopping the ball, I did what I could during the covid to overcome this challenge. This skill will help in the future if I am to ever play football again, and learning more and new skills is important because it helps you diversify.

LO 3 : Demonstrate how to initiate and plan a CAS experience

I needed to take out time out of my schedule and give to football, and I am not the person who will follow the time, and is organized. the initiating was more difficult because everyday there are last minute changes and I had adapted the lifestyle of being lazy and did not want to go out and play. It is important to know how to plan and initiate activities because it helps overall and not only in academics.

LO 4 : Show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experiences

Commitment and perseverance was necessary because I wanted to improve my skills and improving skills is not something that happens in a day, I needed to keep on shooting and trap the ball most of the days of the week, if I wanted to improve. I made a commitment I would do practice normally at least 30 minutes a day. Commitment is an easy task for me but to be persistent or execute that commitment is something which I find myself not doing so easily. Commitment and perseverance are important because if you want to work upon yourself then they are a requirement, they are needed if you want to be the best at something.

LO 5 : Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively

Working with others is normally easy but sometimes it can be quite challenging, this is because I am really impatient sometimes especially when I need to show someone how to do something, my friends had to go through this experience since they were not properly shooting the ball among other things, but after a while they performed better and it was a fun experience. Football is a team sport and so teamwork and collaboration is really important, so I also played football with my friend and not just play alone kicking the ball at the wall, this helped in improving teamwork, it helped increase my patience level.

In conclusion I improved my skills with this experience, football is a fun sport for me and by doing this I am able to contribute towards a healthy lifestyle in a fun way, it not only helped me but my friends as well, they were introduced to a new and fun sport. Coming back and playing again, it was a really good feeling, I had lots of fun and was able to improve my skills, so I think that this was a success, it brought a sense of accomplishment as well since this contributes towards my fitness, I was able to contribute towards a healthy lifestyle in an enjoyable and enthusiastic way. If I were to do the same activity again then I would start it much earlier, this way I would have improved my health and skills more than what I had currently.
