Me and my friends donated lunch to a construction site workers, this was planned after we read the news about lockdown and the increase in unemployment among the poor people, so we decided to donate a meal to different construction sites for a month. We divided the expenses and fed around 100 plates of lunch everyday.

LO-1 : Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth

At first i was very nervous to meet these workers and was wondering their reaction. But when i met them, i realised that they are actually very friendly, few minutes i didn’t even realise that i was around new people. I was pretty confident later and was very glad that i took this decision to help and grow myself and my confidence. This was the situation which actually tested me and helped me work on my area of growth.

LO-3 : Demonstrate how to initiate and plan a CAS experience

Organizing this experience was very time consuming, first we had to find some local restaurant that might also be needy and under our budget. After finding a restaurant we had to give them bulk orders for food and it took 4-5 hours just for preparing it. We also took care of the sanitation so we always wore masks and gloves around people due to the pandemic.

Me and my friends being students, we had to take care of our schedule so that we do not miss out on our studies. Also this gave us a very good experience in management. It was important that we plan out things before cause the workers had a very limited break in their work so we had to reach their on time and distribute the food before time.

LO – 5 : Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively

Working together is very time efficient, we were able to do all the preparations on time due to team work. We had assigned different things to all the people, resulting into the completion of work efficiently. There were some people who were hard to work with but this is something that will happen everywhere in the world. Few of the people were not on time at the site which lead to few problems but it also made them realise that why it is important to reach on time. Later, it was managed on time even after the delays due to the effective discipline we maintained during the distribution.
